Protest Note issued by P. Uthayakumar, Secretary General (pro tem)HUMAN RIGHTS PARTY MALAYSIA (HRP) to Prime Minister on Setapak Hindu temple demolished by UMNO despite Parliamentary Statement.

On the morning of 24th June 2010 at about 11.30 AM we received a distress telephone call from one Jeevamalar that the Setapak Periaanna Muneswarar Hindu Temple was demolished by the UMNO. In the background we heard the crying of the temple caretaker Madam Kasiamma and her family. Well done Dato Seri!

This was done despite the Ministerial Statement by the Federal Territories Minister in Parliament in 2008 (NST 11/7/08 page 13) that no more Hindu temples would be demolished in Malaysia in and more particularly in the Federal Capital. This is the height of UMNOs' mockery of Parliamentary democracy in One Malaysia. There are precedents in Britian and other Western Democracies that when a Ministerial statement in Parliament is not complied with the said Minister would resign or would be forced to resign. But this will never happen in UMNO's One Malaysia. Unless of course a miracle happens! The adjoining temple holy Jasmine flower garden was also ruthlessly bulldozed.

Despite our letter dated 10/2/2010 to the Malaysian Prime Minister (enclosed herewith) this UMNO's barbaric, racist, religious extremist and supremacist act was done with criminal vengeance. This latest act by UMNO's DBKL is a crime punishable with three years jail according to section 295 of the Malaysian Penal Code  Injuring or defiling a place of worship with intent to insult the religion of any class). But UMNO's Attorney General Gani Patail has no history of prosecuting the UMNO criminals but instead has history of prosecuting and sending to jail those who had opposed these crimes.
