Contours of a Conspiracy of Studied Silence

On September 3, 2009, there was a serious Hindu Muslim riot in Miraj town (Sangli district of Maharashtra) when Murtis of Ganesh Ji were being taken out in procession for visarjan ceremony. A group of Muslim mobsters took strong exception to a tableaux depicting the slaying of Afzal Khan by Shivaji, a well known historical fact,  and therefore attacked the Hindus.  The local Police failed to control and disperse the rioters who went on a rampage and damaged a police vehicle (Tata Sumo) and another car of an innocent citizen. Apart from a well planned attack on the processionists and desecration of murtis of Ganesh Ji, there were simultaneous attacks on unsuspecting Hindus at many other places in Miraj town. At another place in the town some Muslims allegedly threw beef near a Hanuman mandir which invited retaliatory attacks on some mosques. The Ganpati Mandals refused to proceed ahead with the visarjan ceremony and ultimately police had to undertake that holy task.  Even more than 100 Ganpati Mandals in Sangli district refused to go ahead with the visarjan of murtis. There are reports that Muslim women from the area around where the procession was attacked had left their homes in anticipation of the outbreak of communal trouble.

A question is often asked that why Muslims are so aggressive and why do they attack religious processions and puja pandals of Hindus and kill the innocent worshippers?   Well the reason is to be found in the orthopraxy of  Islamic scriptures which preach unremitting hatred against the so called ‘kaffirs' (read Hindus)  and exhort the faithful to attack and annihilate the kaffirs and confiscate their land and property for subduing them. That explains why during the medieval ages most Muslim rulers persecuted their innocent Hindus subjects mercilessly. In this context it will be desirable to recall the highly provocative anti-Hindu e-mail circulated by the Indian Mujahideen in July 2008 which quoted chapter and verse from original Quran (in Arabic), along with English translation, calling upon Hindus to either convert to Islam, or get slaughtered by the mjahideen in the same manner as their forbears had been killed by Ghazanvi and Ghauri. Out of several verses quoted in that e-mail three verses from Quran are reproduced below by way of illustration:

•i)                    "O Kaffirs!  If you demand a judgment, the judgment has then indeed come      to you; and if you desist, it will be better for you; and if you turn back  (to                     fight), we (too) shall return back, and your forces shall avail you nothing,                     though they may be many, and (know) that Allah is with the believers                     (Qur'an 8:19)".

•ii)                  "O Disbelievers) We are guiltless of you and  of  whatever you worship besides Allah: we have rejected you, and there has arisen between us and you, enmity and hatred for ever -  unless you believe in Allah and Him alone.  (Qur'an 60:4)"

•iii)                 "Fight them (the disbelievers), allah will punish them by your hands and bring them to disgrace, and give you victory over them and He will heal the hearts of those who believe. (Quran 9:14)"

These verses explain why the Muslims are so aggressive in attacking the Hindus on the slightest pretext.
